Why the distance?

Regulating the distances between your self and other folks affords us with several advantages, including but not limited to:

• Safety: When people are further away, they can’t unexpectedly attack or harm us.
• Non-verbal and verbal Communication: When people are closer, it is easier to interact with them.

• Threat: The reverse can be used – you may deliberately threaten a person by invading their personal space or bubble.

I my self have missed some minuscule non-verbal cues from people that were interested (very interested) in me not only for social relationships but also for business opportunities. Unfortunately I just did not have the sense or the training to pick up on the non verbal cues.
